Garden Island - Fleet Diesel Supply Tank

AIRA are the go to company for difficult confined space works. Being quality and safety certified and utilising IRATA qualified staff, allow AIRA to undertake difficult tasks such as the NDT survey of the roof support structure, of the main diesel storage tank on the Garden Island Naval base.

Diesel fumes, remote areas of work and potential rescue considerations necessitated that AIRA employ several levels of safety including 2 standby rescue technicians, standby SCBA at both rescue stations, three gas monitors and open radio communications between all parties.

Having all the necessary safety measures in place, AIRA were able to complete all works safely, in a timely fashion and in accordance with the investigative requirements of several stakeholders. 

The Navy will continue to have reserve diesel fuel storage at its Sydney base for a long time thanks to the team at AIRA
